It's the flattering mention that won't go away.

But Gov. Susana Martinez's news office said she's not interested in being vice president, despite another shoutout in the national media Friday.

Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney mentioned Martinez among several other governors including Brian Sandoval of Nevada and Nikki Haley in South Carolina in an interview with Fox News, according to reports.

Romney also mentioned New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Bob McDonnell in Virginia, Haley Barbour of Mississippi and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, reports said.

But Martinez maintains she's not interested.

"As the governor has repeatedly said, she is committed to focusing on turning New Mexico's economy around and providing for a better education for our kids," spokesman Scott Darnell said in a statement. "She has no interest in serving as vice president and will not be a candidate for the position."

Romney and Martinez have attended a few events together, and he held a fundraiser for her during his gubernatorial race.

Martinez has said she is humbled by the talk about her in higher office, which began around the time she was elected governor in November 2010.

The former Las Cruces district attorney is just starting her second year in office and is in the midst of a 30-day legislative session.
