About 2,400 PNM customers in the Tesuque area  lost power Friday morning due to a cable fault. Power has now been restored to everyone.

The area affected stretched from Camel Rock on the north, to Viento del Norte on the South, and between Chupadero on the east  and Bishops Lodge Road on the west, according to PNM.

A PNM spokeswoman said a large underground cable coming out of a utility substation failed. "It's old and really needs to be replaced," said Valerie Brown.

This is the second large outage to affect the area recently. The last one was on New Year's Eve.
Brown said that replacement of the 3-phase cable has been moved to the top of the priority list. The cable has been ordered and the work will be done in a couple of weeks, she said.

Brown said there might have been intermittent outages during this time that occur when crews switch loads around to restore power to customers.
