Every summer we set goals that most of us end up not accomplishing because of all the time spent with friends, family and thinking "I'll do it tomorrow." Next year, a lot of us will try to accomplish the things we didn't do this past summer. Good luck.
Getting a job: Almost every teenager plans on getting a job over the summer. Sometimes their parents can help them get a job, sometimes they just fill out enough applications that eventually they get hired, but a lot of the time, procrastination leads to never seeing those summer paychecks.
Traveling: Maybe they didn't apply for a passport, or maybe they didn't have enough money, but for whatever reason, lots of teenagers don't go on the vacations they wanted to. Those travel destinations will still be there a year from now.
Reconnecting with old friends: I'm sure everyone has heard, "We have got to hang out this summer," only for it to never happen. The usual suspects, procrastination and expecting summer to never end, are responsible.
Learning something new: This could be learning to drive, surf, edit film, speak a second language or anything else. Unless they've been planning it since before summer, it's usually hard for teenagers to find the interest and motivation to get involved with learning over the summer.
Finishing the summer reading: Trying to read three books in the last week of summer vacation is not how summer reading is supposed to work, but many teenagers put it off until the end because there are other things they'd rather be doing. Not even Cliff's Notes will help some procrastinators.
